No On Deck Batters / CP Batting Cages / Raking / Score Reporting

NO ON DECK BATTERS
Just a reminder - from Tee Ball through Majors there is no such thing as an on deck batter being "on deck" and swinging a bat. No player is allowed to be holding a bat other than the batter at the plate. When a team is batting, all players should remain within the dugout.

BATTING CAGE SCHEDULE
Please follow the batting cage schedule posted here on the website and in the House Rules. When there are three games scheduled at CP, the two AA teams scheduled for CP1 have both of the cages from 20 minutes before game time until game start. CP3 and Pierce teams have cages between 60 minutes before game time and 40 minutes before game time - for twenty minutes each. Again, check the schedule below for which team on each field has the cage at what time.

RAKING BASE PATHS
Please rake from the edge of the grass to the middle of the base path - from each side of the base path. Do not rake across the basepath.

TIMELY SCORE & PITCH COUNT REPORTING
There are a few teams who have yet to submit pitch counts. Please remember that all scores and pitch counts are to be reported the same day as the game was played.

Please remember that yes, your pitcher can exceed 40 pitches in a game to finish off a batter, but they are NOT eligible to pitch in the next game! The only place that exceeding pitch count means anything is when exceeding the daily pitch count limit for the pitcher's age (league age 7-8 day limit is 50, league age 9-10 day limit is 75, league age 11-12 day limit is 85). If a pitcher throws 43 to finish a batter - his pitch count is 43 and he gets a game of rest. In all cases - even when finishing off a batter to exceed the daily limit - you report the actual number of pitches they threw.

CYA Snack Shack Volunteers Needed
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 23 April 2009

The Snack Shack Volunteer Schedule is posted here on the website. Please check under "Snack Shack" on the main menu to the left.

Please have your designated parent/parents check the schedule for staffing holes and email the This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with their requested volunteer time.   The Coordinator will reply verifying their time and will update the posted schedule with the Name, Team, and Contact Number for the volunteer.  Right now, we are wide open at all times, so pick any Saturday starting May 2 and you can work whenever you want.

We need to raise the total season concession volunteer hours per team from 3 to 8.  That allows 4 people on duty at all times and it takes that many when it's busy (griller, apparel sales, food sales and floater).  All the hours do NOT have to be done by the same person or on the same day.  Anybody can work there any time.  Grillers need to have had the food service class (see http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/hd/food/foodpdf/workshop.pdf for the class schedule) - or be supervised by somebody who has had it.  So even if you don't want to grill, you can supervise because you have the knowledge of food temps, handwashing and food wrapping to ensure safety.

If you have any questions, please call Jody Becker (703-869-9021).

Thank you for your support of CYA Baseball!

Please drag in a spiral direction begining at the mound. This should be done after every game and at the end of every day.

Determining Field Playability
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 19 March 2009

You should not play on a baseball field if any of the following conditions exist:

·   There is standing water on any portion of the field.

·   The sound of a footstep (squish-squish) can be heard while walking on the field.

·   While standing on the field, water can be observed gathering around the sole of the foot.

·   While walking (not running) across a grass portion of the field, a footprint is left in the soil (not just the grass bending over).

·   While walking (not running) on any dirt portion of the field, an impression ½” or deeper is made in the soil.
